Becoming Sasak-Javanese Although I was born in West Nusa Tenggara, I have spent most of my life in Java. However, my parents have constantly ensured that I kept in mind my Sasak culture.. They always tell stories of what it was like to live in West Nusa Tenggara, Lombok. Likewise, when there was an occasion or huge festival my mom always make sure to cook our traditional food. As a result, i value my ethnic culture, though i live in java. Sasak language is an important aspect of my life. Unlike some of my friends, I don’t think Sasak language is humiliating.
