Disadvantages of Social Media Open Up Opportunities For Cybercrime Prepetrators

 Social media is a means of social interaction in cyberspace that allows users to communicate via the internet in the form of text, voice, or video messages using only one account. It is certainly greatly facilitates the work of its users.
however, the ease of accessing social media does not rule out the possibility of cybercrime according to  the weakness of account security and user carelessness.               Weakness of account security and user carelessness are opportunities that make it easy for cybercrime prepetrators to carry out their actions. Many ways that can be used to commit crimes on social media, one of which is phishing. Phishing is a method to take over someone else's account by luring him into being trapped in the perpetrator's trap.  After successfully mastering the victim's account, the perpetrator can freely commit a crime by using the identity of another person.                Web phishing is very easy to recognize from its display and URL address. Usually a phishing web display is very simple and is made very similar to a particular web by the perpetrator, this is what makes people often tricked. However, something that can not be tricked by the perpetrator is the URL address. Usually the perpetrator only changes a few letters from the original URL, for example "facebook" is changed to "faceebok".                To avoid phishing traps, social media users must be very vigilant and careful in using their social media accounts. Users must be able to distinguish official web pages from the fake ones in terms of appearance and URL. Another way to avoid being trapped by phishing is to avoid negative content on social media and not enter an account on a fake form that looks suspicious.
                The weakness of security on social media is a deficiency that can also endangers  to its users. So a user must be smart and careful in using social media so that not to be easily tricked or victimized by cybercrime because cybercrime is more difficult to handle if compared to crime in the real world.
