Illegal Logging Leads to Disasters
Indonesia’s forests are ranked as the third largest forest in the
world with tropical forest and rainforest from Kalimantan and Papua.
Unfortunately, thereare many irresponsible people cut down trees in the forest
as they please. They do not know that illegal logging can cause many disasters.
First, illegal logging can cause flood, especially in the rain
season. During the rain season, the rainfall increases. Many trees were cut
down so there is no trees will absorb the water. The water immediately flowed
into the river. The river cannot hold too much water sothe water overflows and
the flood happen.
Second, illegal logging can cause drought. After many trees were
cut down, there is no root will preserve the soil moisture. The land become
dry. The drought will worsen during the dry season when the sun shines
brightly. The water in the river evaporates and dries.
At last, illegal logging can cause landslide. When it rains
heavily, the water erode the soil on the edge of the cliff. The ground will
collapse because many trees were cut down and there is no root will grip the
ground. Besides that, the landslide can also happen in the riverbank area.
In the conclusion, illegal logging only leads to disasters such as
flood, drought, and landslide. The government must more concern to this and
give severe punishment to the perpetrators. We must realize the importances of trees in our life.
