Modern music is a music that always change in every era because it has receive touches of technology both in terms of instruments and presentations. Modern music has many types of genre, but not all of them are popular in Indonesia. These are several genres of popular modern music in Indonesia.

The first popular modern music in Indonesia is pop. Teen pop is a subgenre of pop music that is created, marketed, and oriented towards preteens and teenagers. Therefore, the lyrics focused on teenage issues such as love and friendship. Then, there is pop rock that also included in this category. Pop rock is liked by people because of the beat, arrangements, and style of rock and roll.

The second genre is jazz. Avant garde jazz is fall into this type is mostly liked by teenager because the music is combines with art music. Then, there is big bands that usually consists of ten or more musicians. Big bands is popular because they gave a greater role to arrangers, and sections of instruments rather than soloists.

At last, the genre that really identic with Indonesia is dangdut. Dangdut koplo is a subgenre of pop music, that famous because the rhytm is more stromping from the drum instrument. Then, there is keroncong dangdut that mostly liked by teenager. The reason is because its crossover from keroncong and dangdut that makes the music more dynamic.

In conclusion, there are three popular genre music in Indonesia such as pop, jazz, and dangdut. Therefore, it better for us to know the type of genre in Indonesia.
