University vs School

University vs School
by : Siti Nur Qomariyah

At first time I study in university, I was shock. All I have imagined is wrong. I thought study in university as I watch in most of film in Indonesia. They can be relaxed after the class, they can go to anywhere they want, and they also can work part time. In fact, learning in university makes me busier than I was in the school. Moreover most of the assignment is more complicated. There are some differences between learning in University and in the school.
When studying in University, I am required to be self-learning. Most of the lecturer usually only teach about the basic of the materials. If we do not study by ourselves and only based on what lecturer give to us, we will get nothing. Besides, sometimes lecturer have asked to the student read before enter in the class. Then in the class is only to discuss about the difficulties, the lecturer only answer the question from the student. If no one asks about the materials usually the lecturer considers that all of the student have understood and he directly give assignment to the student. On the contrary, when we were in the school the lecturer explain the materials in detail and sometimes the student do not need have preparation before enter the class because the teacher will explain it all the materials. To be student of university must study by themselves in order that they understand well.
University students must be active then the lecturer. Not all lecturers usually check the assignment of the student because lecturers have many things to do. Sometimes they just remember some students who are active in the class. Such as, they always ask about the materials, when the lecturers ask they always answer correctly, and they always give their argument to discuss the material in the class. In contrast, teacher is more active than the student when we were in the school. The teacher explain more and the student only silent and listen the teacher’s explanation. Furthermore when the teachers give assignment, the teacher always check and give score. Students in the school are more passive than university students.
The most interesting to be university student is we can arrange the schedule by ourselves. Every first new semester, we allow choosing our time table and the lecturer what we want. Therefore we can adjust with our activity. To illustrate, when we follow some organizations we will be able to manage when we need to join in the organization, when we must study I university and when we must study by ourselves. On the other hand, as a student in the school we cannot make the schedule by themselves. All of the schedules have been already specified by the school. The schedule of university student is more flexible than student in the school.
When we were in the school, every aspect of learning is based on the teacher. We just come to school and then listening teacher’s explanation and do the assignment. However when we study in university every aspect of learning is depend on ourselves. We study by ourselves, arrange the schedule by ourselves and also we are active or not is depend on us. Learning in university we are taught not only about science but also about how to be more mature.

Psychological Injuries That Arise From Failure

Psychological Injuries That Arise From Failure F ailure exists as part of human existence. Failure also makes us feel so weak, helpless, and do not want to do anything. Failure can leave wounds and pain so imprint on us. so that , without us knowing it, there are psychological injuries that arise due to failure itself like damage self-esteem, weaken expectations, reduce self-confidence and motivation . The first is damaging self-esteem. When someone fails, often labeling theirself like, "I'm really stupid", "I really don't deserve success", "what a loser", and other similar negative statements. Such negative labeling actually further hurts our self-esteem. Some consider it, by giving a label in the form of a statement that is able to release emotions from failure. However, the more often we fill ourselves with confusing thoughts, the easier it is to internalize within us. As if we give self-justification that indeed we are a foolish, lo...
